UNIVERSITY HALL
Its construction was initiated by John Purdue in 1876. He died before the building was finished. The university hall was founded in 1887, original called the main Building was the fourth building on campus.
The cost to complete the building was $35,000, and it was dedicated in November of 1877.
The President’s office, bursar office and the academics office were in this building earlier. The Universities first library was located in University Hall.
University Hall is the only building remaining of the original six-building Purdue campus.
Currently, the University Building - College Of Liberal Arts hosts the history department which offers over 156 courses from 36 award winning faculty.
It is located near the Beering Fountain and is surrounded by Recitation building Stone Hall and Recitation Hall.
